VAUNA BEAUVAIS

MSc Psychotherapy, Post Gragraduate Certificate Autism, Certified Transactional Analyst, Certified Cybertherapist, PGCDip Counselling. UKCP registered Psychotherapist.

Vauna is a UKCP registered Psychotherapist specialising in working with neurodivergent adults. She has been seeing clients for around 30 years in private practice. She is also a clinical supervisor for counsellors and psychotherapists who are seeing neurodivergent clients and for therapists who are autistic themselves.

Discovering at over 40 years old, that she is Autistic with ADHD herself, she turned her interest toward understanding the autistic experience and what that means for therapists, trainers, supervisors and for autistic clients.

Her deepest inspiration, though, comes from the clients who discovered as adults that they have always been autistic. Being invited in with them to re-examine the real meanings of their lived events and life-shaped beliefs involves a shared trust of understanding real autism in real people, in the real systemic context. Mutually creating a space for working out what it really means to be autistic and what it really means for them, as unique people, in their lives is wht matters to late-identifying autistic adults. Contributing to significant realignments of positioning and perspectives, as well as self-concept in the context of a now-complete set of explanations is something Vauna feels is the deepest and most meaningful work.

Areas of interest, in addition to mental health, have included quality of life, meaning-making, and self-actualisation. Areas of development include executive functioning in times of strain, and a neuroaffirming approach to coaching for people with ADHD.

Vauna studied Autism at Sheffield Hallam University with Dr Luke Beardon. She is a qualified Coach and Trainer, a Certified Transactional Analyst, and a Certified Cybertherapist. She gained the CIPD accredited ‘Certificate in Training Practice’ in 2008.
