Welcome
If you are a therapist seeing autistic clients (and AudHD-ers) then you may be seeking appropriate professional spaces, learning and sharing events, and resources to support you in your meaningful work.
If so, I’m so glad that you have landed here.
Many of us do work with neurodivergent people as our clients now. And we have had to do a lot of the figuring it out ourselves.
Core training to become a therapist in the first place did not include guiding us to do the work that we now realise we are doing, and is the right work to do.
Neuroaffirming therapy is valid. It is needed. We are all at differing levels of insight and expertise as we travel this terrain of progressing professionally. And we are all on the quest to continue to deepen our understanding and shape the neuroaffirming therapy that we give.
Meeting us at Vanguard Neurodiversity Training could open up options for professional enrichment and support for such therapists.
Many therapists have their whole practice as offering neuroaffimring therapy, while other therapists see only a proportion of neurodivergent adults as their clients. And, of course, therapists may also be neurodivergent people themselves. We believe in therapy that is safe and appropriately effective for neurodivergent people, and enjoy being among other therapists on the same quest.
Therapists like us constitute a growing community, and are seeking meaningful connections and events related to the impact that our work has. . And so that is why Vanguard came into existence. There are a few of us, now, and we are therapists, and autistic people ourselves. We are still in practice, seeing clients ourselves, as well as involvement in the events, resources and activities here for you.
Currently, we have two main things on offer:
a ‘Certificate Course’ on offer. Which is focused as a program for knowing and doing therapy for autistic adults, and building a sustainable practice doing so.
A new space called PULSE - a platform for the community of therapists engaging in good therapy for neurodivergent clients.
Take a look around and see what’s going on here.
Meet us - your trainers who combine clinical expertise with lived experience
Discover the approach -Discover the course contents, style, resources, and benefits

Certificate Course Program: ‘Working Therapeutically with Autistic Adults’
PULSE:
Resources, news and events for the community of therapists working with neurodivergent clients.
Working Therapeutically With Autistic Adults.
What it is: Therapy for autistic adult clients is what we are all involved in. And if you are on this page, you’re at the point of knowing that you are on the quest to deliver therapy that is truly therapeutic for autistic clients, and that there is more to know. This is a program focused on the ‘doing’ of the work. The program contents are not about learning about autism (although learnings do emerge to those of us on the program). It is about the differentiation between what is therapeutic for our client group of autistic adults, and clarity about how we can understand and explain that. Applying those insights in the way that you already work is important, so that you stay true to yourself as a therapist and use the modalities or concepts that you believe in.
Who it is for: Therapists, of all different modalities and levels of experience, who want a place and space with relevant insights that can deepen the client work that we do and support us in building a thriving neuroafffimring practice.
What is included: With Autistic Adults. There are 8 training days live on Zoom, with like-minded peers and autistic psychotherapists as group facilitators and trainers. Presentations and lots of professional discussion, along with resources and references supplied. Additionally group session focused on the real-life cases of work that we are doing, is on two further mornings.
